So that’s February done. How can the year’s shortest month feel so long? Perhaps it’s because it still feels like winter – and we can blame Punxsutawney Phil, as highlighted in our US blog, for condemning us all to a month full of snow and ice.
Winter or not, activity continues unabated with CoPilot Live. This month saw the launch of new free and premium services, some press accolades and awards – and we’ve even spread a little CoPilot Love.
Free Live Local Search came to CoPilot Live v8 users on the Windows Mobile and Android platforms. If you’re wondering where this is on your phone, install the latest CoPilot Live v8 update and it will be included automatically. Full details can be found here.
Our iPhone customers will be able to access Live Local Search in the next update which will be available through iTunes shortly.
Cross platform Premium Live Services came in the form of Traffic Information and Fuel Prices while Text to Speech was launched for our Windows Mobile users.
In the news and video reviews
‘Noticeably Cheaper than Tom Tom’ was T3’s summary of CoPilot Live in their favourable iPhone app review, while our Valentines CoPilot Love campaign generated press attention in spreading amour in France, liebe in Germany and plain old love in the US and UK.
The TT product also gets another price point comparison in this new video featuring our Android product on Google phone, while an interview with our own David Quin provides some insight into the future of GPS in the mobile space.
On the blogs the launch of Live Local Search and Premiums Services was highlighted by both the specialists and the general techs. Confusingly, it was 4winmoblie who picked up on Live Services for iPhone while gomonews used the launch as further evidence of the mobile navigation space really heating up.
Proving the liebe In Germany, meanwhile, CoPilot Live v8 was voted the ‘Best Windows Mobile Navigation 2009’ award by members of the ‘PocketNavigation’ Forum. This is Germany’s largest navigation community with over 140,000 users, so we’re very happy to add this accolade to the CoPilot Live v8 Trophy Cabinet!
Finally, it may have escaped your notice but there is some sort of Winter Games going on in Vancouver.
While Dan Titus is based in our US office, he is a ‘Canunck’ through and through. Not letting a mere bad weather flight cancellation get in the way of him and his beloved hockey, Dan took his trusty CoPilot Live and hit the road. Read about his road trip here.
Bring on March – and if Punxsutawney Phil doesn’t mind, hopefully the arrival of Spring…
